For the third year, the Mayor and Council will again be holding a collection drive for gift cards and toys for the holiday season.

Thanksgiving Collection

The RAP will be accepting monetary and grocery gift card donations to assist those residents in need during the holiday season. Please make checks payable to the RAP. All donations can be mailed or brought to the RAP Coordinator, Angela Fava at the Business Administrators Office, 182 Market Street, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407. We will again work with schools and local houses of worship to assist families in need.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that due to the public health emergency in the State of New Jersey, as declared in Executive Order 103, the Borough will be altering its normal meeting procedures for its special Mayor and Council meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 4PM and will conduct its public meeting by and through the means of electronic communications equipment as permitted by the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to follow best practices recommended by the United States Center for Disease Control, Borough Hall is closed to the general public and the public meeting will not be “in-person” and will be conducted electronically, solely by virtual means.

Written public comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes per person. Public comments shall be read from the beginning, until the time limit is reached. Multiple written public comments submitted by the same individual and/or entity shall be read in succession until the time limit is reached. The Mayor and/or the Presiding Officer may pass over duplicate written comments; however, each duplicate comment shall be noted for the record with the content summarized. Residents Assistance Program holds Fall/Leaf Cleanup to help residents in need

The Residents Assistance Program had their Fall/Leaf Cleanup on November 8th to help our residents in need. Over 60 volunteers were on hand to get the job done. A special thank you to all those who participated in this event.

Applications for wreckers and towers for 2021 calendar year

NOTICE TO APPLICANTS

Notice is hereby given that applications for Wreckers and Towers for the Borough of Elmwood Park for the 2021 Calendar Year will be available on our Borough website beginning on Thursday, October 1st, 2020 at 8:30AM. Applications are investigated by the Police Department on a first-come-first-served basis. The first four towing contractors who submit completed applications to the Borough Clerk and who, upon investigation by the Police Department, are determined by the Police Department to successfully meet all of the requirements for towing services of this article shall be issued towing licenses (Ord. No. 2017-07). An application for a license as a proprietor of a towing or wrecking business shall be made by the person or firm engaged in operating a wrecker or wreckers. The fee for applying for such license shall be five hundred ($500.00) dollars. The application shall be made on forms furnished by the Police Department.

Attention small business owners! The County of Bergen has expanded the Bergen County CARES Small Business Grant Program to include essential businesses. Applications for Phase 2 (Restaurants and Food Service Establishments) are being accepted from now until Friday, October 5th.

Do you own a restaurant or food service establishment that was seriously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic? You may be eligible to apply for financial relief to cover rent, property mortgage payments, and utility expense.

Voter Registration Deadline for General Election

Hackensack, NJ, August 27, 2020 - Bergen County Superintendent of Elections Patricia DiCostanzo issued a notice that Tuesday, October 13, 2020 is the last day for residents to register to vote for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election in the State of New Jersey. In order to be eligible to vote, a person must be an American Citizen, be 18 years old on or before November 3, 2020, and be a resident of New Jersey and Bergen County.

Bergen County residents may register to vote at the Office of the Superintendent of Elections, located at One Bergen County Plaza, Room 380, in Hackensack. In order to meet the needs of residents, this office will be open from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. People may also register at their local municipal clerk’s office, hours vary.

Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing a truck-mounted spraying mission to control adult mosquitoes and larvae using Duet Adulticide and Vectobac WDG in Elmwood Park on Wednesday September 2.Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing a truck-mounted spraying mission to control adult mosquitoes and larvae using Duet Adulticide and Vectobac WDG in Elmwood Park on Wednesday September 2.

This application will be performed between the hours of 4-6 AM. Please keep your windows closed and pets indoors during the operation. Also move your pets, their food, and water dishes inside during the ULV application. Additionally, bring clothing and children’s toys inside. Remain indoors with windows closed and with window air conditioners on non-vent (closed to the outside air) and window fans turned off during spraying. If you must remain outdoors, avoid direct contact with the spray. This operation is weather dependent and may be postponed until the next day.
