The Borough of Elmwood Park is seeking two part-time laborers to work in the Department of Public Works. The work includes production of signs, line painting, leaf/brush collection, road work, grounds maintenance, buildings maintenance, public work projects, snow plowing, sewer and water operations and repairs, operation of heavy equipment, and general maintenance of the Borough. Must possess a NJ driver’s license. Compensation is $16.50 per hour for the first 90 days then $18.00 per hour (20 to 24 hours per week). Mosquito Spraying Notice - Friday, September 13, 2019

Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing a truck-mounted spraying mission to control adult Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing a truck-mounted spraying mission to control adult mosquitoes using Scourge Aduliticde in Elmwood Park on Friday, September 13th. At the same time, we will be applying Vectobac WDG and/or Vectolex WDG to control mosquito larvae. These applications will be performed between the hours of 3-6 AM. In the event of rain during those hours, the operation will be postponed until Saturday September 14th. Please keep windows closed and pets indoors during the operation as well as the 2 hours after. Employment Opportunity: Crossing Guards

The Borough of Elmwood Park is looking to hire 2 part time Crossing Guards. The pay rate is $16.60 per hour. This position is responsible for escorting children when crossing the street in designated school crossing zones. Applicants must be able to pass a comprehensive background check which includes fingerprinting. The hours applicants would need to be available for work is 8:00am-9am, and 3:00pm-4pm, Monday through Friday. Starting pay is pay is $15.00 per hour. Successful candidates must be pleasant with children and willing to ensure their safety in and around school crossing zones. Must understand the need for timeliness and must be able to maintain self-control under stressful situations without exhibiting negative behaviors. 222 New Trees by 2022

222 New Trees 2022

222 New Trees 2022 is a program that seeks to partner up the governments (county, municipal, and school), private businesses, and homeowners to plant 222 new trees in Elmwood Park by the year 2022. Not only do trees lower emissions from homes and cars through shade cover, but they also add priceless value to the beauty of our community. Part of the launch of this program will be revising the Borough code's trees laws. Ultimately, we will assist residents with planting trees on their properties.
